Step 10 Acknowledge and Celebrate Success

If you’ve found this article, but have not yet read the introduction 10 Steps to Success, I highly encourage you to do so before continuing. This is part of a series of articles that read in order will give you valuable insight as to how to become successful with anything you envision.

You’ve Reached your Goals - Now What?

You have done it! You’ve reached your goals, or you’ve reached significant milestones to making your goals and vision a reality and you wonder what’s next! Many goal driven people reach their destination and it never quite hits them what an accomplishment they have had. Before skirting along to the next project on your to do list, take a brief moment to review your successes.

Acknowledge yourself for your accomplishments. You’ve welcomed change, developed a vision, set goals, taken action, developed a timeline and support strategy, you’ve done so in a mind set of learning and growth & now you’ve accomplished your goal. This is big and it deserves more than simply moving forward. Acknowledging yourself and others that have been involved leads to celebration, fun and enjoyment! Its far too easy in today’s world to take the fun out of the process even if the goals are as meaningful as those related to our life vision. How would it be to have more celebration in our lives?

How to and Why We Celebrate?

Celebration should be appropriate. Of course, your model of celebration should be in alignment with your vision. It may be as simple as taking a beautiful sunset walk with a loved one, or as extravagant as throwing a large party. The key is that your celebration is an acknowledgement of your accomplishment rather than an unrelated activity. This should be a purposeful action that can be directly related to the attainment of your goal. Perhaps you feel the process of attaining the goal was acknowledgement and celebration enough. If so, pick a moment that represents your celebration of the accomplishment and engrain this in your head. It should be inspirational and a joyous memory.

If it is not clear why we celebrate and acknowledge our successes let me elaborate. Celebration provides an opportunity for closure and new beginnings. Our memory of the experience is positive and inspirational. We want more. By acknowledging what we have done, we connect with a powerful sense of gratitude and we draw more success into our lives. We continue to grow, develop and enjoy this life.

In Closing

The 10 steps to success series provides a model that when followed precisely guarantees success in health, wealth, and personal development. This series makes one consider important questions such as ‘what is success?’ and ‘do I have an empowering approach towards success?’. You find that success is as much a state of mind as it is an outcome in the physical world.

To bring this series of articles full circle, recognize that the starting point is allowing yourself to welcome success. Despite your experiences in the past are you willing to try an approach that is guaranteed to work so long as you embrace it fully and whole heartedly? And in doing so, are you willing to remember that this journey is not only about the physical results of our actions and that it is just as important to love the process itself. This is true success.
