The Natural Chiropractic Cure for Hemorrhoids (and Thrombosis Hemorrhoids)
By dougnau on May 1, 2009 in Miscellaneous
Every now and again I come across a tool, tip, or technique that I find to have tremendous value – however, its not specifically related to the overall theme of this website. This technique was one I had to share just because I can, and I feel it could really benefit people suffering from hemorrhoids. So let me do my best to shake my ego, let down my pride, and tell you the true experience of how I cured a severe case of hemorrhoids.
Before I start – please note that I’ve no medical background to explain, discuss the risks of, or go into scientific detail of the process I am going to describe. This is simply the story of what happened to me and I hope that you can be wise enough to use this story as you feel appropriate. I’ve heard rumors of women needing to be careful while they are pregnant massaging certain areas of the feet and who knows, maybe there are other risks – I really don’t understand the forces at work here, so be wise. I do know that this worked for me. Here’s my story of the totally natural chiropractic cure for hemorrhoids.
The Background
Two and a half years ago, I was doing some yard work – crouched over pulling weeds for hours (most likely putting a lot of strain in my derriere), and I woke the following morning with a ridiculous pain in the rear. I had bouts with some small hemorrhoids in the past – and I knew this was something I was susceptible to, but never had I experienced anything like this before. Usually if I had one, it would come and go over the course of a day, and never really bothered me all that bad, so I didn’t pay that much attention to it. But this was different. I quite literally felt a huge pressure on my behind. I was incredibly sensitive, and I could not sit (even on a soft cloth couch). Luckily I was working from home at the time, I ended up on the floor laying on my stomach all day long!
Now I eat a ton of fiber, I exercise a lot, I am relatively young (was 32 at the time), never got pregnant (admittedly I am a man), my digestive tract overall functions fantastic, so all the dietary suggestions that one would have to ‘naturally’ cure hemorrhoids really didn’t apply. During this time I cancelled dinner plans with friends, I rarely went out, I stopped going to the gym because I feared the additional strain of weight training, and in whole it was having a huge impact on my life.
I began doing quite a lot of web research as the condition persisted over a week. I couldn’t deal with this much longer, and to my surprise it was not getting better. As I began researching the condition I could very visibly see, I learned that what I had was a thrombosis hemorrhoid – basically a really big one! Now, if you are trying to figure out if this is what you’ve got, go talk to your doctor or do a Google search on that word for images. Its not pretty & mine was about the size of a quarter – not fun.
I came across a number of websites claiming that their herbal supplementation could strengthen the walls of your blood vessels and had a 98% success rate in curing hemorrhoids at any stage. I was all over this. The supplements were expensive but that was no barrier at this point. The result – no improvement. Either I was in the 2%, or the claims were not founded on real evidence.
As I read more, I became desperate. All signs pointed to the suggestion that if this persisted without going down (and by now its been well over a month), that I appeared to be a real surgery case. What I read gave me the impression that it was an extremely painful procedure and the recovery was very difficult. Furthermore, surgery seemed to cure the immediate situation, but often people had recurrences. Was this my fate?
My Chiropractors Suggestion..
In a last ditch effort, I brought up the problem to my chiropractor. The reality is that both my brother and sister in laws are chiropractors, and despite how uncomfortable it was for me to bring up the topic, my wife easily asked them for help on my behalf! Both said that they had a technique that has cured hemorrhoids for a lot of their patients and it only took a couple minutes to do. They told me the technique outlined below.
Don’t get me wrong, I was 100% skeptical. This technique seemed utterly bizarre, made no medical sense (at least to my untrained mind), but the reality was that I was suffering, it seemed unobtrusive enough, and what did I have to lose. So here’s the technique they gave me.
The Technique
Step 1- expose your left foot. (I don’t know why its the left, but it is the left and not the right – makes me wonder about people that are amputees???)
Step 2 – Locate the region between your inside ankle and the heel. You should have a triangular indentation between your Achilles, heel and ankle.
Step 3 – On the portion of that triangle closest to the direction of your toes, you’ll feel some tendons that if you press hard enough, will be sensitive (and some suggest that its more sensitive if you are experiencing hemorrhoids)
Step 4 – Massage this tendon and region – yes the area that is most sensitive. Really work it. This is the key to the technique.
Here’s some images of where to focus.
You see from above, that the region is not really that large. Maybe a square inch. If you feel like you are uncertain if your getting the right spot, you can do what I did and work the whole area.
A seen above, you can probably work the whole area the best with your thumbs (get the most pressure). I was taking the photo with my right hand, but actually used both thumbs working the area.
What I did Next
Now, my brother in law told me that he’s done this to patients for as little as 30 seconds and its seemed to clear things up – but my sister in law actually massaged this area for me and probably spent a good 5 minutes doing it. She was NOT gentle. Not kidding – it hurt, and as ridiculous as the scenario seemed – I could care less, if it might work then I’d do it. I couldn’t deal with the hemorrhoid any longer.
After she finished up, and I had a good impression of how deeply to apply pressure (about as hard as you could do it and still tolerate it – I actually had some light bruising the next day), and I knew the area to focus on, then I continued to do this about 3-4x/day for 2-3 minutes for the next couple days – again, what did I have to lose.
I don’t know if this was necessary or not, maybe one time would have done it, but I figured why not keep on top of it. My sister in law told me it couldn’t hurt but probably wasn’t needed.
The Result
Within 3 days, my entire thrombosis hemorrhoid was completely gone. It has never come back and now its been 2.5 years later. I admit I’ve had a few smaller ones crop up here and again, but most have gone away within 12 hours and they’ve never bothered me enough to even apply the procedure again.
How did it work?
I don’t know. I’ve read books on acupressure and potentially there is some energy flow that gets obstructed that causes the condition and this clears the energy flow. Honestly, I’ve read about that field of study, and I hardly understand it and don’t even know if this could be an explanation.
Did it really work? All I can speak to is the results. I was dealing with this condition for nearly 2 months, had tried just about everything from Preparation H to supplementation and had absolutely no success in even subsiding the swelling or even relieving the pain. Three days after applying this technique it was gone. Coincidence? It could be. But from my personal experience I’d say its really unlikely. The numerous other accounts from the in laws about the success of this technique seems to suggest that a lot of people would have ‘coincidences’, if it didn’t work.
I wrote this article because I know how difficult this was to deal with and if anyone else can benefit by learning more about this option – I’d be thrilled. If you know more or have had an experience with this technique, please post a comment.
Be Well

Hi, I was wondering if you have had any other problems since you wrote this post. I just had a knee replacement surgery and since then have had hemmorids and was wondering if the results of this stuck?

Debby,
thanks for the post - no real problems to speak of since. Had some very minor hemorrhoids that have passed in less than 24 hours, but the serious issue has vanished. Please post a reply if this works for you - thanks!

Hello,
I am very seceptable to getting this one hemroide. Drives me crazy. I do eat alot of fruit so I’m not sure why it keeps reoccuring. I do go to the gym and yes I find when I have had a bit harder workout that the next day there it is. But even when I haven’t gone for a while I still get them.Perhaps it’s because I have gained some weight. I am about 25lbs this year than last. I’ll try the ankle massage. Thank you for sharring.

I read your article with great interest. I will be eighty next birthday and for the last two weeks, have had hemorroids, or so I think it’s that. I just feel I have to move my bowels but feel there is a blockage. It feels swollen just inside the rectum. Nothing helps. I take mild laxatives to get results. But lots of the day I feel the urge to go but can’t. But strange as it may seem, I am not sore, just tender. I lift a lot of heavy stuff for my age and had six children in my young days AND hemorroids. Any suggestion? I am going to try your message . Thank you. Billie

I’m an avid bicyclist, generally eat plenty of fiber and drink anywhere from 60 oz. to 120 oz. of non-caffeinated beverages a day and have suddenly developed, what I assume to be, a hemorrhoid. Other than you, have any other readers of your site, friends, relatives or acquaintances tried this with similar results? I just finished my first attempt at massaging the area and am hoping for the best, but currently am skeptical. If successful I will do my best to post results for other to read. Thanks for sacrificing your pride and thanks for the post.

Thanks for the update - I appreciate you’re coming back to share your experience - I’d like to hear if this works for others or if not. For me, this trick seemed to be far more than coincidence, I’ve never experienced issues like I had before applying the massage. I did this for about a week straight really working that area of the foot. I hope that you find a way to reduce the problem and if so I’d appreciate your posting what works for you as this article attracts a lot of visitors
thanks
