Volume 1, Issue #9:  Living a physically healthy life

Dear Reader,

I am very excited because I recently attended a presentation on 'Sales & Life Mastery', a discussion widely advertised as a way to increase sales of your service or product.  Much to my surprise and delight, the true topic was 'health' of all things!  Without a physically and spiritually healthy mind and body, success in life - let alone sales becomes highly unlikely.  What an interesting way to look at sales!!

Over the past 3 months I've coached over 150 individuals on designing 'physically' well and fulfilling lifestyles.  Its been amazing to see the accomplishments that people make when provided even the most gentle coaching.  In this newsletter I share some of the principles that I've learned in designing a healthy lifestlye from hundreds of interactions with others over the years.  I hope that this may be an inspiration for you to take action towards having a physically fulfilling lifestyle.  Please share this newsletter with a friend that would find it beneficial! Today's Article: Living a Physically Healthy Life

A huge component of wellness is undoubtedly the physical body that we reside in.  We are so blessed to be given this vehicle by which we can act out our intentions and we can use to express our personality and our passions with the world.  We are much bigger than our physical body, yet at the same time our being is interwoven with this companion during our life journey.  We inherently know this - however we don't often consciously consider this amazing relationship (mind/spirit and body).

As a life and wellness coach, I have the privilege to think about this each and every day.  A simple series of questions can put the value and priority of our physical health into perspective:

1.  List out the top 5 most important things to you in life
2.  How does your health affect these top 5 priorities?
3.  How do your actions currently reflect your priorities?

While there are no right or wrong answers to these questions, I frequently find that the top 5 most important things include relationships, work, adventure, fun, family, providing value to the community, money, happiness, among others & of course Health!  If health itself is not in the top 5 then consider how health effects your top 5.  Its difficult not to draw a correlation.

At this point you can visually picture the value of your health, and it may appear in a way you never expected.  For some its the realization that their children might have to support them as they age, for others it may be that those scuba diving trips may not be possible any more, and for others it might be that they can not be an effective manager if they are constantly sick.  Whatever it is for you, this exercise does a tremendous job in giving a powerful reason for developing a healthy living plan-as well as helping to clarify what it is you really desire to achieve.

Ask yourself the question, how do my actions reflect these top 5 priorities?  Are these actions in alignment with the top 5 important aspects of my life?  Thats a big question!  If so - celebrate, if not - what are the actions that can bring these aspects of yourself from your thoughts into the real world.  Keep in mind, these actions may be as simple as a 20 minute walk per day or not eating that chocolate bar at lunch.  When we act in alignment with our values, life is sweet.  Consider the following questions and design an action you are willing to take this week:

Are you living life in alignment with your values? (exercise above)
If your mind had a conversation with your body - what would your body tell you?
What small action with diet or exercise am I willing to take this week to demonstrate my health intentions?

If you are interested in exploring these questions further or to work with a coach to turn these thoughts into a reality, contact me any time to schedule a complimentary consultation or simply to learn more.
