Today's Article: The Benefits of Full Disclosure (in business and life)
In
studying 'successful' people, whether that be in relationships, health
and wellness, or in business, I've noticed the importance of full
disclosure. People that have transparency in their life
and business are letting others know that they are comfortable with who
they are, what they do, and what their ideas are. Others react as
they sense this confidence and appreciate the honesty. By
'dis'closing our actions, we are in essence opening ourselves up for
greater opportunity and the possibility for success. The act of
disclosing releases energy that could be better spent in other places.
There
is a lot of energy behind closure. When we hide a truth we can
literally feel emotion, stress and anxiety build up when we think about
that which should be said. We may become guarded, irritated, or
defensive without provocation. This becomes a state of being
which can overwhelm us and consume us. In
business, we've all been approached by the salesman that we were
hesitant to work with because we didn't know how they were incented.
Deep inside we think that we are getting 'ripped off'. That
may or may not be the case, but this sensation is clearly one
related to disclosure. How would your experience be if a used car
salesman informed you on exactly what they purchased the vehicle for,
their exact commission and the cost to maintain their lot? I know
I'd be much more comfortable if I understood this model. Disclosing
information does a number of things. Not only does it release an
energy that we carry about the item we are hesitant to speak of, but it
also levels the playing field such that those we disclose to have a
sense of knowledge and understanding. They in turn share more
with us and there is equal benefit. Disclosing interests and
personal plans can also engage others in our vision as well and create
a support network that we did not know existed. Remember -
disclosing ideas can be fodder for creation, not only an opportunity to
air out what needs to be said. Consider for yourself the following questions: - How could my personal life and the lives of others benefit by disclosing information to loved ones?
- How could my business grow by disclosing information to my clients?
- How could my personal wellness improve by disclosing my desires with those whom I associate with?
Use
these questions as an opportunity to see if a net energy over time will
be gained or deterioriated by becoming transparent in your life and
business. We can not create unlimited energy in our life, but we
can optimize that which we do have to maximize our potential for
success in business and life. Read the full article here: The Benefits of Full Disclosure (in business & life) Written by: Doug
