Today's Article: Letting Go of the Ego for Unparralled Success

Isn't the ego an amazing phenomenon?  Our ego is simply the image we'd like to project of ourselves to the outside world - regardless of whether or not it represents who we truly are.  The image we portray may or may not even be the type of person which would make us happiest! Social constructs, our belief systems, and even our fears create this edgy and easily offended hallucination of ourselves that we offer to the world.

Despite the ugly picture I paint of the ego, consider the benefits of having one.  It allows us to protect the part of ourselves we feel are most vulnerable.  It gives a wonderful excuse to take actions that might push us beyond where we'd go if we did not feel the pressures of having an ego.  It provides us that adult security blanket that can make us feel 'comfortable'.  None of these things however provide the benefit of encouraging us to live a life of action that is aligned with who we are in the inside.  After all - isn't that what we truly want?

Have you found that your ego has held you back in the past?  Perhaps you are embarrased to go to the gym even though you want to?  Are you afraid to ask a question in a meeting because of how you feel others will react?  Are you unwilling to take a risk because you fear making a mistake?  How would it be to let all that go?

If you are interested in learning more about the ego, and practical ways 'place your ego on the sideline' such that you can align your true self with your actions, read the full article at:  Letting Go of the Ego
