TODAY'S ARTICLE: HOW TO GET MOTIVATED IN 30 DAYS I've
heard the rumor that creating a habbit takes 28 days. How would
it be if I could give you a process that would guarantee getting
motivated to achieve your most important goals in 30 days or less?
Would you
truly be willing to do what it takes to make that happen?
If
you've been struggling to get motivated to make your biggest goals and
dreams come true ask yourself what it is that you truly want. If
you've neglected to make this happen up until now and you are not
willing to put in 30 days of effort (I'll explain the challenge below),
perhaps
you need to face the possibility that while your goals would be a 'nice
to have',
they are really not the goals that make your soul tick. At some
point in life you'll need to come to terms with yourself as to whether
or not you've created the right goal. Why not face that question
now? What happens if you truly believe you've got the
right goal, but you just havent been able to make it a reality yet?
Are you thinking of the excuses you've had in the past already?
Why is what you are thinking about doing so important? Get beyond
the the simple answers to the question (ie: I know exercise is good for
me, I want to be financially well off in the future, I know this is
good for my career), and feel the why. If you can not connect
with the deep rooted sensation of the why, its not the right goal. If you are
not passionate for the why, keep searching. Goals rooted in
emotion are the goals that will be achieved. Forget the old adage
of setting SMART goals. If that hasn't worked for you in the past, create the
vision that will inspire action. Feel and be at one with that
vision. To give you an example, if you want to exercise - where's your passion.
Running 5x/week may not be, but running to save lives of children
with leukemia may be. If you want more money, why? Connect
with this reason and make it more than an intellectual knowing - feel
it. Your
30 day motivational challenge begins with the creation of a goal/vision
you resonate with in your gut. This challenge is intended to get
the ball rolling and to shift
your current mentality such that you can create long term and sustained
success. Once
you've established the right goal, you are ready and are well on your
path to success. The next step is to take action. For the
next 30 days, commit in writing to taking at least one action per day,
every day towards accomplishing your goal or vision. The size of
the commitment each day does not matter, the consistent action does.
We're looking at shifting mentality, not necessarily to bring
about
your desired outcome in 30 days. For 30 days, you get to take no
days off. If you are unwilling to do this and you're already
imagining the
excuses, then I'd argue that you are not really passionate about the
vision you've created. Remember, it does not matter how small the
action is, but
it must be an action representing movement forward. Write
down what you do every day for 30 days along with the intended result
of your
action, and post this record along with the goal in a visible location.
If you can
stick to this simple method, you'll create a shift in your life that
has you motivated to continue to create your goal long past the 30 day
trial period. If you give up before the 30 days has come - ask
yourself where your true passions are. For
a full explanation of the technique, for samples of goal setting and
log sheets, and to learn more about creating the right goal/vision, visit the full article here. How would it be to shift from thinking about your goal to making it happen? Ready to get started? Be Well Written by Doug
