TODAY'S ARTICLE: DEVELOP YOUR INTUITION Intuition.
Its an inherent capacity yet a long lost skill. We're
taught by our schools, by our parents, by our society to be exceedingly
intellectual, and in the process we've collectively lost touch with our
gut emotions and feelings. As we've become more and more confident in
our capacity to reason, intuition has become less and less of a
necessity. We have turned over decision making to our thought and
have shut down the need to listen to what our core self tells us. Is
this bad? I invite you to look at this as neither good nor bad,
its simply what is. In the past 200 years, society has changed
and it has favored those with high intellectual capacity. It
rewards those who can think proactively, those who can analyze,
evaluate, and solve the most complex of problems. We look for
theorems, proofs, and logic to be the foundation for the answers we
believe and trust. And in the process, intuition has taken a back
seat. So
what differentiates the great leaders and most successful individuals
of our time? Is it their capacity to analyze? Truth be told,
there are many brilliant analysts who have little success. The
most successful people have learned to become great thinkers in their
field of expertise AND have a strongly developed sense of intuition.
If Warren Buffett relied solely on his analyzing capacity, he'd
be nowhere near as successful as he is today. Intuition
is nothing magical. Its not a force reserved for mystics and
spiritual masters. Intuition is inherent to us all. We can all
tap into it with relative ease. The real challenge in today's
world is to be focused such that you call upon it regularly. You
may recognize intuition as that inner sense of knowing that something
is simply right even though the numbers don't add up. Its
difficult to listen to and act upon intuition in this situation.
Regardless, intuition is there and its sending you signals. Its
that same voice that says, don't eat that iced cream, but you do
anyways. No, intuition hasn't dissappeared as we've evolved so rapidly
to become great thinkers, we've simply chosen not to listen and in the
process we've forgotten how to listen. Ask yourself the follwing: - When was the last time I made a decision based on intuition rather than on analysis?
- In what areas might I improve by listening closer to my intuition?
- What has my intuition been telling me that I've neglected to listen to?
- How might I change such that I consciously call upon my intuition more often?
